I always thought that Google’s informal motto being “don’t be evil” was about as comforting as a coworker having a sign at his cubicle reminding him not to snap and murder everyone in the building.
As it turns out, watching the coworker remove the sign is even more ominous.
This is a longish read that is absolutely worth your time and attention.

There it is, the quote for any fandom, any community out there. You don’t get a free pass to be a dick towards others. People who get offended by abrasive and vitriolic attitudes aren’t “babies” or “snowflakes”. They’re decent human beings, and they’re not in the wrong for wanting others to be decent as well.

This was done by David Mac Dowell, and it was in the Crazy4Cult showbthat @thatkevinsmith curated back in 2008.
In 2008, Anne and I were living paycheck to paycheck, and there was no way we could afford to buy art, but I wanted to see it in person, so we went to the show. It was many thousands of dollars that we couldn’t afford, but that didn’t matter, because it had already been bought.
Five or six weeks later, the show closed. A week or so after that, this painting arrived at my door with a note that said, “Dear Wil, you can’t not have this. -Kevin”
Yeah. Kevin Smith bought this for me and gave it to me as a gift.
I love it, and I look at it every day, because it reminds me of the time that Kevin did something so kind and generous for me, because that’s the kind of person he is.
